December :)

We had an amazing Christmas. I got to spend TONS of time with my loving John! It was awesome getting to be with him as much as possible. I also got to be with family. My favorite brother John came home from Chicago with his wife, Becky. I made it to 4 out of 6 Christmas dinners. Poor John went to all of them, you know he is full! Here are some pictures from a few of them.

John and Kanyon play with Kanyon's presents...

Husband John, Allyson, and Brother John begin a ginormous snowman at my Grandparents house.

The grandkids eating on the porch at Memaw's dinner.

Watching Trisha open presents. Kanyon was about to burst waiting to open his.

Post present opening at Mom and Dad's, we covered Allyson with the wrapping!!

John and I exchanged presents with each other on Christmas Eve after I got home from work. I gave John a telephoto lens with image stabilization. He gave me a SEWING MACHINE!! I believe next year we will have to set price limits...or get a joint gift.

I hope everyone had a wonderful wonderful Christmas and has a happy New Year!

Happiness

Ever have that moment, randomly, when you are just so happy to be in love, married, and with the one you want to be with for the rest of your life? I love those moments.

Today is John's birthday. He finally reaches the ripe old age of 25 ;) I think he has gotten sexier with age. I look at him everyday and realize how blessed I am. God has provided me with everything I could ever need or want. Even the perfect match for me :)

I'm gonna bake today, so I will post some pictures later. John wanted a Funfetti cake for his birthday cake. Cute right? ;)

Some Fun Pics :)

Anyone think a man chopping wood is sexy? Well I do! Look at my sexy husband :) He even let me chop some. I hope there is still plenty of chopped wood when we get back there this weekend.

My sexy husband also buys me flowers, aren't they pretty?

We did burn some of the wood John and I chopped. Don't you love a wood burning fire? This weekend I plan on having marshmallows and hot chocolate. Yummy Yummy!

We made it through the Thanksgiving holidays and are all ready for Christmas. I have almost finished our Christmas shopping. I just need a few fill-ins and to buy all my baking stuff. My brother is coming home for Christmas this year, I can't wait to hang out with him.

John is working out of town again today, but he will be home tonight. What should I surprise him with? I have supper planned. Are flowers a surprise for a man too? hehe

Thanksgiving :)

I have so many reasons to give thanks. God has blessed me and John so fully. We have a home, clothes, jobs, friends and family. We get to spend time with all of our families this week. I have Thanksgiving off so we are going to my parents for lunch. Mom has always cooked for lunch on Thanksgiving rather than supper, gives us a chance to sleep the rest of the afternoon ;). Friday we head to John's moms for lunch. She makes an amazing turkey in a crock-pot. Saturday is John's dads Thanksgiving. I work Saturday, but hopefully I will be able to go after work.

I promised John I wouldn't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I haven't ever decorated that early, but for some reason I am really excited about it this year. We cut down our tree on Sunday while we were in the mountains. I think I may put lights on today, just to get ready ;).

John is traveling for work today, to South Carolina. He is supposed to be home tonight, but it will probably be late. I may not like his bosses, but I am thankful he has a job.

I work tomorrow and Saturday this week. Truthfully I'm kinda happy my week is spread out some, I have been getting really tired at work lately. Those 2 pound babies really wear me out! lol Keep my babies and their families in your prayers during the holidays, it's really hard on a family to have loved ones in the hospital during Christmas especially.

And in case I don't say it enough...I love my husband. He is AWESOME! :)

Disappointed...

Have you ever been so disappointed in yourself that you don't know what to do next? That feeling of how could I have screwed up so badly? I know I am an imperfect person. I am not the kindest, happiest, most loving person in the world. I know my faults, and I try to correct them when I realize what I have done. I found out today that I hurt some of my best friends so severely, one decided not to be friends with me anymore.

I always chalked it up to the business of new lives, jobs, husbands, etcs. I never looked at myself as the person to blame. I reached out multiple times, never to get responses. Well I finely got my response, and boy was it hurtful. I found characteristics in myself I would choose to forget. The possibility that I could ruin a friendship, without knowledge, without even a thought of it being my fault...

The person I hurt is a good, Godly person. He/She didn't deserve to be hurt. They have helped me out when I asked or didn't ask for it multiple times. It took 14 months for this person to get over my offense.

When I found this out today, my first reaction was anger. Why didn't they ever approach me with their problem. I realize that I should have been more open to see their hurt, their pain. I wasn't there for this person the way they have always been there for me.

This isn't the first friend I have lost due to my own recklessness. Unfortunately it will probably not be the last. I am so sorry if I have hurt you personally. I pray for guidance, patience, and love for others. Please pray for me...

Loving Fall...

Guess what I love...FALL! John and I have been keeping ourselves busy lately. We have went to the state fair, taken a road trip to Boone, and visited with our families. We bought bikes recently and have been so busy that we haven't gotten a chance to ride them! I would like a rack for our cars so we can take them out to the country and ride casually.

I would love to go riding in the mountains and see views like these, but I know I couldn't handle the mountain roads!

Is anyone else ready for the holidays? I have been shopping for Christmas presents and we are about half-way there. I still need to buy John's but I have a few ideas :) I think we are going to have a Christmas party the weekend before Christmas. It will be a combo for John's birthday as well. I actually have Christmas day off, but I work Christmas eve. I hate missing family dinners, maybe one day I will be senior enough not to work holidays.

We are going to see Paranormal Activity II tonight. We saw the first one last year, but I got motion sick. So I'm not sure how I will handle this one. We may see if another movie is available for me to watch if I do get sick. Hopefully John's friends at the theater can give me the hook-up. I'm sure John will blog about the movie so be sure to check it out!

Do you know what movies are coming out in November and December? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader :) I am so excited. This fall/winter is going to overwhelm me with excitement!

There hasn't been much going on with work lately. I have been facilitating classes for our new nurses, so I actually haven't worked on the unit since last Tuesday. I do work the weekend though and then later next week. I will be working Halloween, but should be home around 8 for some late trick or treaters, so be sure to stop by for some candy!

Fall Fun :)

Pig Pickin' :) The Daniel's pig pickin' was this weekend. One of my favorite times of the year! John stayed over night and helped cook the pig. I got up early Saturday morning to cook and then head out to be there as soon as possible. I made baked beans and pigs in a blanket. John had made cookies the night before, so I had my hands full. It was the perfect day, the weather was great. It was sunny, cool and beautiful.

My little cousins were adorable and had a blast! Baby Addyson wanted to see and touch everything. She especially liked the scare crows and their eyes lol.

Everyone enjoys the buffet style of eating, because they just keep going back for more and more.

Joseph claims he can perfectly roast a marshmallow. I disagree because I like mine burnt!

John was a good husband and he loves his wife :) He stoked the fire all day, especially when it was time for s'mores.

Overall it was so much fun. One of the best parts of the night was playing hide and seek and sardines. Natalie would only play if we played sardines, so she didn't have to run. Unfortunately in the first game she was last to find everyone, so we got to hear all her funny comments as she searched for us. I am already looking forward to next year!

Sunday we went to Robbie's first birthday party. He was so adorable eating his cake, until he realized the sugar was going to his head ;) For pictures check out facebook.

A Good Day

Today I didn't get out of bed until 9am. Yes you read that right. 9AM!! I worked Mon, Tues, Wed this week and was really really tired. Maybe I'm getting to old for 3 in a rows. Anyway I got to sleep in to day because John stayed out of town for work last night. He called to check in around 850 or else I probably could have slept until 10!! I had a relaxing morning drinking my coffee and making breakfast. I did some lite cleaning, but mainly just had some time to myself. I promised a co-worker I would come work the latter part of her shift today, so 1pm-7pm. I have one kid, who could really be paired with two others. I'm basically just sitting here for the next 2 hours.

John wasn't feeling well at work today, so he started home around lunch time. He had a migraine. I hope he is all better when I get home.

We have the Daniel's Pig Picking this weekend. I found out a couple of my cousins can't make it, so I'm a little disapointed. My sister and her boyfriend are supposed to bring corn hole board! It is a fabulous game ;) I have already got s'more stuff ready. I just need to buy the stuff to make baked beans and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies.

I will hopefully have some fun fall pictures to post very soon!

Looking Forward to Fall...

I love Fall. There is so many positives that I associate with Fall. First, my family reunion aka the Pig Pickin'. Most of the time people go to reunions as obligation, but not this one. The men start cooking the pig around midnight Friday night. It is usually done around 12 or 1pm the next day. People start arriving around 10am. I usually get there earlier if possible. John started staying the night with the men last year, and I think it will be a tradition for him. We eat, play football, talk, eat some more, play hide-n-seek, and roast marshmallows by the fire barrel. Each year the weather is different. There have been years where we were freezing beside the fire, and others when we ran around in shorts. The night doesn't end until close to midnight. It is amazing.

Second, the state fair. I don't always get to go, but I love the whole idea of it. I love remembering back to clogging competitions where we almost always won 1st place in our division. I love the smell, the tractor pulls, the cows, and oh yea the FOOD. I have my schedule for October now, so I need to look over it and try to plan a group to go!

Third, I love fall clothes. Shallow, I know, but what can I say. I like to put on a comfortable pair of jeans with a cute top and boots.

And last, Fall to me signifies the beginning of the holiday season. I love to spend time with family and friends. The holidays are a time that I get to see everyone I love all stuffed into a couple months. I do hate that with work, I have to really squish everything in to be able to see everyone.

A few more things I love about Autumn...
...pumpkins...
...leaves changing...
...cool weather...
...cured tobacco...
...mums...
...pumpkin pie...
...sweet potato casserole...
...new NCIS episodes...
...holiday decorations...
...holiday shopping...
and the list could go on and on...

Blog name change...

I decided to change the name of our blog for a couple of reasons. First I hated the original name, I just never could think of a clever name. Second, John and I are known for our kisses. We have tons and tons of kissy pictures. We have been together for 3+ years and still enjoy each and every kiss. And thirdly, I have always enjoyed coffee. John on the other hand is new to the coffee world. For about a year and a half now, John and regularly enjoyed drinking coffee with me. After we got married, he started making my coffee for me in the morning and making enough for himself as well. Although he requires a sweetness to his coffee, and I can drink mine black, we have found some of our favorite moments are spent over a hot, fresh cup of coffee.

Picture Catch Up, Fun, and Our anniversary trip...

Where to begin...

Last weekend we went to the Duke/Elon game with Ryan and Katy. It was the Duke employee game so we got free tickets and food. It was my first time going so we had no idea what to expect. It was loads of fun, but I think we learned what to expect for next year, and how to do things differently. Duke won, yay, but it had been so long since we really got to hang out with Ryan and Katy that we spent most of the time catching up. We ate way to much junk food, stayed up too late, but had an awesome time :) There were fire works at half-time and we were really close to the action!

This weekend was our first anniversary :) We decided to save on money, yea right, a little and go to Boone. John had to work Friday, but there were service calls in Boone. We left Friday morning at 0600 with our coffee cups in hand. John had 3 stops, but we were able to meet Roh and James for lunch at the Red Onion. I spent some time reading, shopping and walking around Boone while John finished up.

Saturday morning it was raining, but we still ventured out to Art in the Park in Blowing Rock. We saw Zach Creech and his Dad, who is a very talented painter. I think I need his Bald Head light house painting ;). Afterwards we went shopping at Lucky Penny, and I spent way to much money!

Sunday we got up earlyish and went for a hike/walk. We decided to do a different trail, the Price lake trail which is almost 3 miles. It's probably not my favorite trail, but it wasn't too bad. Not a lot of up and down, more flat walking. We didn't leave the mountain house until 5pm, we just didn't want to come home! John misses his mountain life. I try to plan as many trips as possible!

I love my husband, I can't wait to see how each new year presents. For more pictures, see facebook!

A beautiful morning...

Have you been outside today? If not, GO OUTSIDE!! It is absolutely beautiful. The sky is blue, the breeze is blowing, and the temperature is mild. I could sit outside all day long. Oh wait, I think I will. We are going to the Duke-Elon football game today. The tailgate starts at 4, and the football game at 7. I bought John and I some hats, but they don't really fit me that well. I will see if I can work it out though.

I will post pics and post on this fun filled holiday weekend soon. I also promise to post some pictures of our vacation to DR soon, very soon :)

DR!

Well we are back from the DR and we had a blast. We were pampered the entire time. I had my first real massage with John. We had our own chef who prepared us wonderful meals every day, maid service who put flowers on our pillows, and concierge service in the form of Maki who did everything else for us. We ate until we couldn't eat no more and swam more than I ever have before. John took me snorkling for my first time. I saw a Dori fish (you know the one from Nemo)hehe. I felt like we were looking at scenes from Pirates of the Carribean everyday.

The only downfall of the trip was when going through security in the DR to come back home I had my Chi hair straightener in my carry on. The security people said it wasn't allowed and made me throw it away. Needless to say I cried having to throw away $100 dollars!!

I will try to post pictures with captions next week. I have a cold, and everyday at home I've spend laying around. I'm working today, and luckily I have a good assignment so I am able to relax some.

I ate lunch with an old high school friend yesterday. It was good to catch up with Lindsay and get some good lunch in the process.

We are filling out our October schedule at work this week. It amazes me to think that the next schedule we fill out will include November and December and part of January!! We do our holiday schedules all at once. I think I am working all of the "eves" this year. It will be the first time in like 2 or 3 years that I'm not working Christmas!! I will miss out on one family dinner on Christmas Eve, but after last year's hectic holiday schedule. There has to be a way to make it to all of our family dinners w/o wearing me out ;) If only I didn't have to work at all that week...

Well I need to get back to work, even though my babies are behaving. Look for pictures soon!

Uggghhhh!!

You know those times when you really really need to vent about something? Well I am having one of those moments. My problem is that it is 1145 at night and there is NO ONE awake to vent to! I really want to call my sister and b*tch to her for a few minutes because I know she will listen without judging and give her honest opinion. But woah is me she is in bed, of course. I hate how I get so angry sometimes...

There is really no reason, I just let my emotions get the best of me and I loose it. If I don't get my way watch out! I at least want you to recognize that you could have possible done maybe a little something wrong!! Is that asking too much? Probably so...

At least I had a good time at work today. I had a kinda transitional baby. I got to help her mother bathe her for the first time. Her dad got to hold her for the first time. I like those moments. Those are the moments that make me go into work each and every day. I also had good roommates. They were attentive but not in the way. Probably one of the best days of work I've had in a while.

We leave for our vacation in the Dominican Republic on Saturday. If I have internet access while we are down there I will update with some pictures. Otherwise it will probably be a while before I post again.

Thanks for letting me vent ;)

Busy Few Weeks

I feel like I have been super busy the past few weeks. I know I only work 3 days a week, but when you pair working with errands, family time, cleaning, cooking, and small trips: things get crazy.

John has been keeping steady work. This week he has working 9 to 12 hour days. He got to stay local and today I think he is in Burlington as well. We have gotten to spend quite a bit of time together lately and I love it.

We are taking our family trip next week to the Dominican Republic. It will be John's side of the family. Trisha, Jeremiah, Anitra, Cully, their kids and Johna and I will be making the long trip starting at 0655am next Saturday. Wish us luck on the travel :)

I will leave you with a few pictures from the past few weeks.

This summer has gone by fast, but it has really been a good one. John and my first year together has been so blessed so far. We have a few weeks left until our anniversary, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for our future!

Duke is AWESOME!

So I need to brag about my Employer for a moment. We ranked 10th on the US News and World Report. The only hospital in NC to make it on there. So go us :) The NICU where I worked ranked 19th, so we have some room for improvement there. Here's the article, so check it out.

A few thoughts...

**Working would be so much easier if you could pick your hours. I don't mind 12 hour shifts, because I only work 3 days a week ;). But getting up at 5am and getting home at 8pm is kinda hard. If I could get up closer to 6am and get home still around 8 that would be awesome. I can't complain though, I have a great job. I work with some really interesting and helpful people. I can tweak my schedule to have 8 days off with out taking any PTO.

**I love spending time with my family. I know Sundays are a time for God, but I also love going over to my Memaws and seeing my family, playing with my cousins and EATING.

**I really need to clean our apartment. I let things get kinda dusty, dirty, grimy over past few weeks. I worked last weekend, then went out of town for 4 days, and now I'm working this weekend. So needless to say, I need a good cleaning day. I think that day will be TOMORROW!

**I love my husband.

**I really want a puppy, one of my parents. I know that now isn't the most appropriate time, but I still want one.

**Chinese food sounds really good right now.

**I need to take a new primary at work, but I also need some new experiences after having a primary for 8 months.

**I miss my friends, I haven't seen any of them in months.

Well those are all my thoughts right now, except that if I get an admission today I hope it goes well!

I love my husband :)

John is a great guy, look what he bought me!

But let's face it I'm a pretty darn good wife. Look what I made him!!

We had some leftover sauce from our weekend dinner with Roh, so I made some more sesame chicken, broccoli, and John bought some sushi. I must say it turned out really good ;)

I'm going to the zoo tomorrow with 3 lil cousins and my lil sister. It should be a blast, there will be pictures.

New Chairs/New Plants

John and I finished the three chairs we've been working on for our dining room table. We got three from John's Aunt Becky and 3 that belonged to my Great-Grandparents. We have finished the ones that we got from Aunt Becky. We recovered the seats, and painted the chairs black. I must say I was happy with the finished project. They do need a little touch up (we were excited) but I like them.

I also planted new flowers in our pots on the porch. Brittany helped me pick out some pretty ones. It's the little things in life these days, the little things :)

I also got some good news from Roh this weekend during our dinner. Our wedding pictures should be in sometime this week. I am really excited, I have a few frames that need filling. Plus I want to work on a really new exciting and pretty photo album.

Summer Fun :)

We have been having an amazing summer so far. This past weekend we made a trip to Boone and took Baby Allyson with us. She went on her first trail hike ;) We drove down Friday and arrived around 12:30, ate lunch at Chick-fi-la and then started our hike. John and I like going the Hebron Rock Colony so we decided to do the 5mi. Boone Fork Trail to get there (instead of our usual short-cut). It was about 81 decrees, so perfect hiking weather. We spent a couple hours in the water at Hebron, and then headed back to the mountain house. Saturday we shopped as normal on King St., ate at Capones and then back to the mountain house for movies and Ribs. We headed out on Sunday, John cried ;)

Sunday we stopped at Mom and Dad's to check on the puppies. They are getting so cute and starting to grow. I hope we are able to find homes for all of them.

This weekend Roh and her husband, James, are coming to visit for supper. I think I will make sesame chicken, rice and broccoli. Any suggestions on dessert? Ice cream and apple crunch?

John and I are going to try to finish the chairs up tonight and tomorrow morning so we will have something to sit on during supper. I love the fabric we put on the cushions. I will post pics of the finished project!

June Updates

I haven't updated in a while. I've been lazy on my days off. John has still been working a lot, late hours and all. I have been getting in later from work due to a policy change/enforcement. Our families have gotten together a couple times recently. My cousin Sara and her family visited from WA in early May. It was really good to visit with her and play with her babies :) A couple weeks later my brother and his wife visited for Memorial Weekend. We had a cookout and took family pictures. I couldn't remember the last time they entire family had been together like that. It was really nice :) We played a lot of corn hole board and ate a lot of course.

I am looking forward to next weekend. John and I are going to the mountains :) It has been since December since we have gotten to go to the mountain house. We have been trying to save money, but I am DYING to go hiking. We know it's Father's day that weekend, but my dad will be out of town. We figured we can see John's dad another time. I think Trisha is going too. I hope I can talk Brittany into coming as well! I really need to spend some money at Lucky Penny with my favorite shoppers.
Speaking of shopping I found a new store I like at Southpoint Mall. Its got a very Lucky Penny style, so of course I love it.

On a very different note, if there is anyone in the area who needs a workout partner I need a motivator :) I have put on too much weight and need to get out and run a few times a week. My schedule is sporadic and I would like to be able to workout before John gets home. Maybe taking pictures of myself in bikinis and posting them on the internet will be motivation enough lol.

My parent's dog decided to have puppies as well, so if you are in the market for a new puppy let me know. They will be 8wks at the end of July and should be able to leave their momma then.

Friends

Disclaimer: I am not asking for a pity party, just needing to talk.

I have trouble making friends. I always have. I guess I need to clarify. I can meet people, make nice, and have friends. But as for good friends, who call me, and want to hang out. I'm not so good at it. I see my friends maybe once every couple months. I talk to them on the phone, about once a month, and that's usually if I call them.

It's not that people don't like me. I'm just not the person they think to call when they want to hang out or talk. I know it is mostly my own problems that prevent those close lasting relationships. First, I am a little annoying. I know this. I have always been a little on the loud, hyper and annoying side :) Second, I don't like to go out all the time to do things. I am perfectly content to sit at home, watching movies and hanging out. And thirdly, I'm not all that funny, or entertaining. I want other people to entertain me ;).

I did make some good friends in college, but we all live in different places. We don't keep in touch like we should. I also have friends from childhood, my cousins. I don't see them like I want to either.

My best friend is my husband, and he has been there for me since we were in high school. He has always been there for whatever I need or ask. He spoils me with foot rubs (toes hehe), and tickles my back. He washes dishes and vacuums because he knows I hate to. He works so hard to help provide for our family. I love my John :)

Dodson Family Reunion

We had a Dodson family reunion this weekend at John's dad's house. We ate lots of food (of course), went swimming, rode four wheelers, and played basketball. Unfortunately my camera battery died, so I only got a few pictures. Enjoy!

John is traveling this week. He will be gone Monday and Tuesday night. The good thing is I work Monday and Tuesday as well. So at least I won't be sitting around by myself for 2 days. Hopefully he will come home early on Wed. and we will get to spend a little time together.

Well I kinda want to go take a shower after swimming in chlorine. So I will post again later ;)

Weekend Trip

John and I went to Morehead City/Beaufort/Atlantic Beach this weekend. Our friend Rochelle got MARRIED Saturday. They had a beautiful ceremony at a church. Roh wore a tea length white dress with purple peap-toe shoes. At the reception afterwords she changed into purple chucks. It was awesome. They had these nice little white mints with sugar on them that were delicious, oh and OREO COOKIE BALLS!! My favorite :) That night John and I went for a walk in Beaufort and ate at a restaurant were we had flaming cheese :) Literally they lit our cheese on FIRE!

The next day was rainy and chilly. We went out to the ocean for a little while but it was cold and very windy. We didn't stay there long. We went to the aquarium as well. There was a neat exhibit where they went diving with the sharks. John really really wanted to go diving with them. My new camera is kicking butt. It took some really good pictures of the jellies :) We ate lunch in Beaufort, walked around a little bit and then headed home.

Over all it was a WONDERFUL weekend. We need to get away more often.

On a sad note, when we got home our eggs were MISSING! I mean gone, no shells, goo, anything. I will kill the snake that swallowed them whole!

Working

I've been working for the past few days, and I'm tired. I haven't had really sick patients, just constant days. HIPPA is getting on my nerves. I know patients have their right to privacy, but it has gotten so strict, that I risk breaking HIPPA just by talking to my co-workers about my assignment. They don't even want us to post where we work on Facebook because it can lead to violations. We aren't allowed to be friends with patient's or their parents on Facebook, or to give them our numbers to keep in touch. It has just gotten crazy.

John and I went out to dinner last night with his Dad and his wife. We went to the Saxapahaw Grill. I HIGHLY recommend it. It is at a General Store, but the food you get is gourmet. I had Apple and Mango pork chops with mashed potatoes and collards. It was amazing, the sauce was awesome. They are opening a Pub right next door and I can say John and I will be eating there as much as we can afford :)

I work again tomorrow and then Saturday we head to the Beach for a wedding. Our wedding photographer is getting married. She is an amazing artist. I can't wait to see her again, and get to spend sometime with John at the beach.

We have Doves ;)

So as some of you may know, John and I have a dove nest in a flower pot on the porch. I tried to get rid of it, a couple times. But the doves were insistent. Now they have laid eggs and become very very protective of the nest. I couldn't even water the flowers yesterday for fear of being attacked by the birds. I do admit they are starting to grow on me. I find myself checking on them throughout the day. I think I will continue to shoot pictures of them until they eggs hatch and the babies fly away. Here are some I took today. She guard her next well, until I shoo her away with my camera strap.

I am still a little sick, but I think I will go back to work tomorrow. My fever broke, and all I have is some chest congestion. So I feel like after today's rest, I should be good to go for tomorrow's shift. I'm off Monday, so maybe I'll have another day to get better. John and I have a wedding to go to next weekend at Morehead. We are staying the night Saturday night, so I'm hoping to get some sunning in on Sunday :)

And on a more mushy note, I love John. He has really done his best to look after me these past few days, even though he has been a little under the weather himself. He has made sure to get me whatever I have wanted including snuggles :). He works so hard himself. Long hours, bad bosses, and lots of driving, but he doesn't complain. He just comes home and makes sure his wife is happy :)

I love you John.

Sick Day

I took a sick day today. I'm pretty sure all I have is some sinus problems, maybe allergies, but since I had a fever last night. No work for me. I do feel kinda bad, because when I checked in with my manager this morning she informed me the unit is pretty crazy. Hopefully all will be better tomorrow. I felt bad yesterday. I slept all afternoon and used half a box of tissues. Thank goodness John and I own a lot a movies. It def. helps to keep me less bored. I also like the feature on DVDs where when the movie finishes and you do not stop the dvd, it automatically restarts. Harry Potter kept me very relaxed yesterday.

John had another very late night. He didn't get in until after 8. What sucks about these long days is he doesn't get paid overtime. He works on average 10-12hrs a day. Most days he leaves a little before 8am and doesn't get home until after 6. It sucks for him, because he is exhausted and still works 5 days a week. He was told he was getting a raise a couple weeks ago. On his first check with a raise, it was about $175 less than what they originally said it would be a week. I can't wait until he finds another job, with more honest employers.

Well hopefully after laying around another day, I will start feeling better and make it back into work. I miss my babies. (Especially one of them.)

Overtime

Did you know that on-call pay for nurses was started over 30yrs ago? For those of you who do not know, on call pay is when I get called early in the morning and told I am not working but put on call. (Excuse my run-on sentence.) I have to stay near home, so that if I get called in to work I can be there as quickly as possible. Guess what I get paid? Guess!?! It's $2 an hour. So a total of $24 dollars a day, and it's taxed. The amount hasn't been adjusted since its in-statement. So I can't really leave home ALL day and I get paid $24. I mean seriously!

My morning started at 0500 when I woke up to get ready for work (OT shift). At 0515, work called to let me know I was on call. I went back to bed. It probably took me about 30mins to get to sleep, and then another call at 0635. They needed me to come in for an admission. Okay, no big deal I got to lay in a little while longer. TEN minutes later, they called back. They needed me to still be on call. Well I was already dressed, and John was in the kitchen making coffee and breakfast. So no going back to bed for us!

So here I sit waiting on a call, that probably will not come for my $24 dollars. I guess I shouldn't complain, it's more than I would have made if I had not signed up for OT at all.

John, of course, is working today. He left about 0745. We had cheese toast and coffee for breakfast. Since we were both up early, it was nice to sit there and drink our coffee together! We don't get to do that much. It seems like every weekend we are busy. Por ejemple: This past weekend we spent the night with KatyKJ Friday night and then headed straight into town for errands Saturday. This Saturday I'm working. Next Saturday we have a wedding in Morehead and are driving down that morning. See? No relaxing coffee mornings for us!

Hope you enjoy the pic of me in my new scrubs! And as John would say, Peace and Love Y'all ;)
