A Good Day

Today I didn't get out of bed until 9am. Yes you read that right. 9AM!! I worked Mon, Tues, Wed this week and was really really tired. Maybe I'm getting to old for 3 in a rows. Anyway I got to sleep in to day because John stayed out of town for work last night. He called to check in around 850 or else I probably could have slept until 10!! I had a relaxing morning drinking my coffee and making breakfast. I did some lite cleaning, but mainly just had some time to myself. I promised a co-worker I would come work the latter part of her shift today, so 1pm-7pm. I have one kid, who could really be paired with two others. I'm basically just sitting here for the next 2 hours.

John wasn't feeling well at work today, so he started home around lunch time. He had a migraine. I hope he is all better when I get home.

We have the Daniel's Pig Picking this weekend. I found out a couple of my cousins can't make it, so I'm a little disapointed. My sister and her boyfriend are supposed to bring corn hole board! It is a fabulous game ;) I have already got s'more stuff ready. I just need to buy the stuff to make baked beans and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies.

I will hopefully have some fun fall pictures to post very soon!

Looking Forward to Fall...

I love Fall. There is so many positives that I associate with Fall. First, my family reunion aka the Pig Pickin'. Most of the time people go to reunions as obligation, but not this one. The men start cooking the pig around midnight Friday night. It is usually done around 12 or 1pm the next day. People start arriving around 10am. I usually get there earlier if possible. John started staying the night with the men last year, and I think it will be a tradition for him. We eat, play football, talk, eat some more, play hide-n-seek, and roast marshmallows by the fire barrel. Each year the weather is different. There have been years where we were freezing beside the fire, and others when we ran around in shorts. The night doesn't end until close to midnight. It is amazing.

Second, the state fair. I don't always get to go, but I love the whole idea of it. I love remembering back to clogging competitions where we almost always won 1st place in our division. I love the smell, the tractor pulls, the cows, and oh yea the FOOD. I have my schedule for October now, so I need to look over it and try to plan a group to go!

Third, I love fall clothes. Shallow, I know, but what can I say. I like to put on a comfortable pair of jeans with a cute top and boots.

And last, Fall to me signifies the beginning of the holiday season. I love to spend time with family and friends. The holidays are a time that I get to see everyone I love all stuffed into a couple months. I do hate that with work, I have to really squish everything in to be able to see everyone.

A few more things I love about Autumn...
...pumpkins...
...leaves changing...
...cool weather...
...cured tobacco...
...mums...
...pumpkin pie...
...sweet potato casserole...
...new NCIS episodes...
...holiday decorations...
...holiday shopping...
and the list could go on and on...

Blog name change...

I decided to change the name of our blog for a couple of reasons. First I hated the original name, I just never could think of a clever name. Second, John and I are known for our kisses. We have tons and tons of kissy pictures. We have been together for 3+ years and still enjoy each and every kiss. And thirdly, I have always enjoyed coffee. John on the other hand is new to the coffee world. For about a year and a half now, John and regularly enjoyed drinking coffee with me. After we got married, he started making my coffee for me in the morning and making enough for himself as well. Although he requires a sweetness to his coffee, and I can drink mine black, we have found some of our favorite moments are spent over a hot, fresh cup of coffee.

Picture Catch Up, Fun, and Our anniversary trip...

Where to begin...

Last weekend we went to the Duke/Elon game with Ryan and Katy. It was the Duke employee game so we got free tickets and food. It was my first time going so we had no idea what to expect. It was loads of fun, but I think we learned what to expect for next year, and how to do things differently. Duke won, yay, but it had been so long since we really got to hang out with Ryan and Katy that we spent most of the time catching up. We ate way to much junk food, stayed up too late, but had an awesome time :) There were fire works at half-time and we were really close to the action!

This weekend was our first anniversary :) We decided to save on money, yea right, a little and go to Boone. John had to work Friday, but there were service calls in Boone. We left Friday morning at 0600 with our coffee cups in hand. John had 3 stops, but we were able to meet Roh and James for lunch at the Red Onion. I spent some time reading, shopping and walking around Boone while John finished up.

Saturday morning it was raining, but we still ventured out to Art in the Park in Blowing Rock. We saw Zach Creech and his Dad, who is a very talented painter. I think I need his Bald Head light house painting ;). Afterwards we went shopping at Lucky Penny, and I spent way to much money!

Sunday we got up earlyish and went for a hike/walk. We decided to do a different trail, the Price lake trail which is almost 3 miles. It's probably not my favorite trail, but it wasn't too bad. Not a lot of up and down, more flat walking. We didn't leave the mountain house until 5pm, we just didn't want to come home! John misses his mountain life. I try to plan as many trips as possible!

I love my husband, I can't wait to see how each new year presents. For more pictures, see facebook!

A beautiful morning...

Have you been outside today? If not, GO OUTSIDE!! It is absolutely beautiful. The sky is blue, the breeze is blowing, and the temperature is mild. I could sit outside all day long. Oh wait, I think I will. We are going to the Duke-Elon football game today. The tailgate starts at 4, and the football game at 7. I bought John and I some hats, but they don't really fit me that well. I will see if I can work it out though.

I will post pics and post on this fun filled holiday weekend soon. I also promise to post some pictures of our vacation to DR soon, very soon :)
